Job offer

HiWi for the rubber extrusion working group

Practical work in the rubber technology technical centre

You will have the opportunity to carry out extrusion and vulcanisation tests independently, characterise compounds and extrudates (mechanically, thermally, optically, acoustically, etc.), evaluate data or even design them.

About the working group

The Rubber Extrusion working group deals with the extrusion and vulcanisation of rubber profiles. In contrast to thermoplastics, rubbers do not solidify when they are cooled, which leads to various special features in terms of plant and process technology. After the rubber profile has been formed by the extrusion tool, cross-linking takes place in a vulcanisation system. During this process, the flowable rubber mixture reacts with the addition of heat to form rubber.

As part of public research and projects with partners from industry, you will work with us on a variety of topics. These include the development of new plant technology, process optimisation, the modelling of processing behaviour as a basis for simulations and the development of new measuring methods. Your tasks will be correspondingly varied. For example, you will have the opportunity to carry out extrusion and vulcanisation tests independently, characterise compounds and extrudates (mechanically, thermally, optically, acoustically, etc.), evaluate data or even design them.

Your tasks

  • Practical experiments on laboratory systems
  • Design and maintenance of system components
  • Material analyses
  • Data evaluation

What we expect from you

  • Independent, reliable and conscientious way of working
  • Enjoy practical work (operation of systems, evaluation of components, machine maintenance, etc.)
  • Technical or scientific studies
  • Ability to work in a team

What we have to offer

  •  Collaboration on innovative research topics in rubber technology
  • Gain experience in scientific work
  • Varied activities
  • A pleasant working atmosphere with flexible working hours
