Modeling of flow processes using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN)

The pressing process of fiber-reinforced plastics can be mapped using models. Existing artificial neural networks (ANNs) do not achieve sufficient prediction accuracy. This may be due to the amount of data, among other things. Your task would be to investigate different ways of expanding the data.

The work is related to this research project:

The project, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), is concerned with researching a methodology for optimizing the mechanical component properties of long-fibre-reinforced plastics.

These could be your tasks:

Familiarization with the state of the art See research laboratory work
Selection of extension methods that are suitable for the given problem More methods would be considered as part of a project and independent development would also be required
Comparison of the methods

These are your benefits:

  • You are/you are independent of system functionality and material provision
  • Varied mix of research, simulation and evaluation
  • Gain knowledge of common simulation software (Matlab, Abaqus, etc.)
  • Independent work with supervision according to your needs
  • Support also provided by assistants from the working group
  • Individual coordination of tasks and time frame
  • Immediate start possible
  • Possible employment as a Hiwi after completion of the work

Your profile:

  • Technical or scientific studies (CES, mechanical engineering, computer science, …)
  • Interest in simulation and motivation to learn new things
  • Programming skills are advantageous, but can also be learned during processing
