Bachelor- or Master thesis

Solution and objective:
In order to further optimize the analytical design of injection boxes, a new methodology is being developed to determine the resin residence time distribution. For this purpose, pultrusion resins are dyed and the color is changed in pulses. The resulting color image in the cross-section of the profile is evaluated. Based on this methodology, conclusions can be drawn about the flows in injection boxes. In addition, the design of injection boxes can be optimized with regard to short dwell times and the avoidance of deposits. Based on this, the impregnation strategy is systematically investigated and further developed to improve the impregnation performance and quality of injection boxes. The findings of the tests carried out should be transferable to other process points and geometries. For this purpose, the results are classified and correlations between the injection box configuration used and the impregnation quality are derived. The results from these approaches are combined to transfer basic approaches of the injection box design to the use of flat semi-finished fiber products in the injection box.
