Bachelor’s thesis or Master’s thesis
Solution and objective:
A fiber guide is being developed that allows the roving tension, spread and position to be controlled. A test rig is set up on the pultrusion line, with which the roving tension generated can be determined close to the process as a function of the take-off speed. Furthermore, the roving tension required to spread the rovings is investigated. Sensors are used to determine the resulting thread tension by deflecting the rovings. The roving width as a measure of the spread is recorded with a camera and determined using an image processing algorithm. Furthermore, it is evaluated whether the fiber guiding elements reduce the roving twist without damaging the rovings. Once the fiber guide has been integrated into the existing pultrusion line, tests are carried out to check the measurability and controllability of the fiber guide. If necessary, the concept is iterated before the influence of the fiber guide on the pultrusion process is investigated. To this end, tracer rovings are first used to experimentally investigate whether the positional accuracy of the rovings can be improved through the use of fiber guidance.
