The individual steps from the development of new materials to their application in industrial practice are presented. <\/p>\n<h3>Contents of the lecture<\/h3>\n<p>At the beginning of the lecture, the material properties of selected plastics and how they can be specifically influenced by additives and fillers are described in the product development section. In the subsequent application development, both general guidelines for the plastic-compatible design of components and their application are presented using practical examples (e.g. plastic\/metal hybrid technology or electrical and electronic applications). A lecture on processing technology provides an overview of manufacturing processes for plastic components, processing errors and the general influence of process parameters on component quality and the resulting component properties. Finally, numerical component design and optimization as well as the simulation and measurement methods used in the plastics industry are explained.
