In many industrial applications, from the automotive industry to medical technology and packaging, joining is an indispensable step in the manufacture of stable and functional products. Various welding processes are used, such as hot plate welding, ultrasonic welding and friction welding, each of which offers specific advantages and areas of application. A sound understanding of these processes is essential for students in order to make optimum use of the properties and behavior of plastics and to develop innovative solutions for technical challenges.   <\/p>\n<h3>Contents of the lecture<\/h3>\n<p>Process sequences, material properties, the associated physical principles and machine and tool technology are presented for the various joining and forming processes for plastics. Building on this, the models required to simulate the heating, cooling and stretching processes are developed.
