An understanding of the connection between material knowledge and process knowledge is particularly relevant here, as this is the only way to develop products that make optimum use of the potential of plastics. <\/p>\n<h3>Contents of the lecture<\/h3>\n<p>The lecture begins with a block on the material-specific property profile of plastic components, followed by the resulting challenges to be considered in the design process. The focus here is on material selection in line with requirements, the molding process, design for production and processing as well as suitable joining technologies. A further block will show how special injection molding processes open up new possibilities in the design of plastic components. Various components are first analyzed with regard to suitable materials. The most common pitfalls in the design of plastic components are illustrated using practical examples and suitable solutions are developed.
