J\u00f6rg E\u00dflinger (centre).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A particular highlight of the event was the awarding of the VDI Medal of Honor to Professor Dr. J\u00f6rg E\u00dflinger, Head of Materials Technology at MTU Aero Engines, Germany&#8217;s leading engine manufacturer, in Munich. The long-standing Chairman of the VDI Materials Engineering Division and the VDI Materials Engineering Society was honored for his outstanding commitment to materials engineering. In particular, E\u00dflinger has decisively advanced the development of materials for aviation and opened up new fields of application through the courageous use of innovative methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-custom-t-rkis-cyan-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-1 is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;With his expertise and foresight, J\u00f6rg E\u00dflinger has provided significant impetus for the further development of materials technology. His achievements, especially in the field of aerospace materials, are of great importance for science and industry&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Hopmann, Chairman of the VDI Materials Engineering Society and Director of the IKV Institute, presented the award. &#8220;With his expertise and foresight, J\u00f6rg E\u00dflinger has provided significant impetus for the further development of materials engineering. His achievements, particularly in the field of aerospace materials, are of great importance for science and industry,&#8221; emphasized Hopmann in his laudatory speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The VDI Materials and Nanotechnology Division plays a central role in materials technology research and development. It networks engineers across all material classes and promotes the transfer of knowledge between science and industry.
