By precisely adjusting the opening strokes of electrically operated hot runner valve pins during the injection phase, filling differences in family molds are to be balanced, significantly improving the quality of molded parts.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n                    <\/div>\n                                            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Family moulds are a special type of multi-cavity mould in which components of different sizes or geometries are produced, which usually belong to the same assembly. To increase process consistency, a cavity-specific control of the cavity pressure was developed, in which the pressure transmission into the cavity is influenced by variable opening strokes of the hot runner valve pins.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\" relative flex flex-col gap-2xs mb-xs md:mb-l xl:mb-xl items-center justify-center before:absolute before:top-0 before:bottom-0 before:left-[var(--space-xs)] before:right-[var(--space-xs)] before:-z-10 py-xs \"><img decoding=\"async\" style='width: 374px;height: 472px;' class=\"for_tiny \"  src=\"https:\/\/ikv-aachen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/FamRe.png\" srcset=\"\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px\" width=\"374\" height=\"472\" alt=\"FamRe eng\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><span class=\" text-copyright order-3 justify-end text-right w-full  px-xs for_tiny\">&copy; IKV<\/span><figcaption class=\"for_tiny text-figcaption justify-end text-right  px-xs \">Development of a cavity-specific control of the injection moulding process for family moulds with the help of electrically powered hot runner needles<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a previous IGF project, this method had already been developed for a single-cavity mould and has now been transferred to a family mould. In a first step, the interaction of individual pin movements on the neighbouring cavities was investigated both simulatively and experimentally. No interaction can be observed for the low volume flows that occur during the holding pressure phase for shrinkage compensation, so that a transfer to the multi-cavity system is possible. The pvT-optimised cavity pressure control was implemented for the holding pressure phase.
