These include media and UV exposure. For this reason, it is essential that the possible change in the material due to environmental influences and the associated ageing is taken into account when designing plastic components. To this end, accelerated ageing studies are to be carried out. The investigations are divided into several work packages. First, two materials are stored in a UV chamber and in a medium (e.g. tempered water) for a defined period of time. After storage, the mechanical behavior of the accelerated aged materials is examined on a so-called universal testing machine in both tensile and 3-point bending tests and evaluated in comparison to the non-stored materials. In addition, the hardness of the materials is determined on a hardness tester. The material characteristics determined in the process provide information about the influence of the environment on the materials.
