The influence of these media has a significant impact on the mechanical properties of the plastics used and causes environmental stress cracking (ESC). ESC is one of the main causes of premature failure of the plastics used in their applications. This results in the need for a systematic analysis of the ESC risks of different plastic\/media combinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To achieve this, the &#8220;Quantitative Structure Property Relationship&#8221; (QSPR) approach is used. The potential ESC risk is determined on the basis of the molecular structure of the medium and polymer. As the number of potential plastic\/media combinations is vast, we are introducing system-describing characteristic values. On this basis, characteristic values are to be developed that can be used to describe the various plastic\/media combinations.
