Knowledge transfer through plastics training centers

The qualification measures developed at IKV are implemented via a network of around 40 educational institutions, the so-called plastics course centers. IKV acts as a central control center, providing advice and technical support to all course centers. In addition, the plastics training personnel working at the course centers are trained and further educated by IKV at regular intervals. The Training and Further Education department transfers current developments in plastics processing to small and medium-sized companies. Innovations from research and development as well as the plastics industry are presented in the form of training courses and information brochures in a timely and educationally useful manner for the skilled trades. The nationwide network of plastics training centers implements the courses developed by IKV with the help of the IKV context system.

At IKV, we combine tradition and innovation: our training and further education programs create a unique bridge between craftsmanship expertise and state-of-the-art plastics technology. In this way, we not only shape the future of the industry, but also strengthen the indispensable roots in the skilled trades.

Knowledge transfer

with the IKV context system

The IKV context system is a highly qualified training tool that has proven itself time and again to be attractive and efficient for the plastics technology trade thanks to its comprehensible presentation of specialist knowledge. It consists of a series of teaching materials that have been specially developed for training and qualification in the processing of plastics in the skilled trades.

The IKV context system relies on comprehensibly prepared teaching materials for different training levels. IKV

These materials are tailored to the respective level of knowledge of the learners and didactically aligned accordingly. All materials developed at IKV are certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and are reviewed annually by the quality management system of the Training and Further Education department. The training materials are regularly updated and further developed in close cooperation with relevant associations such as the DVGW and DVS. The trainers themselves are also instructed in the (technical) didactic system specially developed by IKV and regularly receive further training from IKV. The context system is used by a broad target group, including career changers with no prior knowledge of plastics technology, people with prior technical qualifications and skilled workers (such as master craftsmen, technicians or engineers) who wish to acquire additional qualifications such as a qualification as a welding supervisor. The materials are structured and prepared differently depending on the learner’s level of knowledge, from practical cloze texts to detailed theoretical textbooks.

How is the context system used?

This teaching material from the IKV context system accompanies the participants of various training courses offered at the course locations. Both learners and teachers (trainers) receive specific versions of the learning content. In some courses, IKV employees are responsible for the final examination, while in other cases the examinations are carried out by the employees of the training centers.

Conclusion

The IKV context system offers sound and didactically well thought-out training in the plastics technology trade. Through continuous further development and quality controls, it ensures that all learners and teachers receive state-of-the-art training.
