Participants acquire the knowledge and skills to identify the plastics used in vehicle technology, assess their condition and repair them if necessary.

Technology

Fundamentals of plastics; plastic applications in bodywork and vehicle construction; identification of plastics; processing techniques for thermoplastics and thermosetting plastics; hand lamination and coating with reactive resins; accident prevention regulations and measures; repair techniques: welding, laminating and bonding; introduction to plastic painting technology for vehicle components.

Practical expertise

Recognition of plastics; repair techniques: welding, laminating and gluing; production of resin attachments; repair of thermoset components of varying degrees of difficulty, production of fiber composite parts to replace damaged areas in the component; production of bonded joints; filling and sanding techniques; preparation for painting in compliance with protective measures.

1 week full day or divided into several modules

The participant will be able to select suitable thermoplastic pipes and use and process them correctly for drinking water and waste water in domestic installations.

Technology

Introduction to the field of plastics; processing and installation methods and guidelines; pipe connections; standards and general information. Guidelines.

Practical expertise

Recognizing the different pipe materials; producing pipe connections for wastewater pipes made of PE, PP, ABS/ASA/PVC by inserting, clamping and welding; installation exercises for pressure pipes made of PVC-U and PVC-C, PE-HD and PE-X, PP-R, PB and multi-layer composite pipes with adhesive, welded, clamped and pressed connections, pressure testing.

2 weeks all day

The participant learns the basic knowledge and skills to independently process semi-finished products made of thermoplastics, e.g. PVC-U, PVC-P, PE-HD, PP, PMMA.

1st week of the course

Technology: Plastics, their properties, machining and processing options; application examples; welding processes.
Technical practice: Welding of sheets, foils and pipes using various methods; leak and strength tests on welded samples.

2nd week of the course

Technology: chipless shaping of sheets and pipes by thermoforming in the thermoelastic range; machining shaping processes and bonding; plastics in installation technology; installation guidelines and application examples; processing and application of acrylic glass; basics of injection molding technology of thermoplastics; use of plastics in chemical apparatus and pipeline construction; material-compatible design with plastics.
Technical practice: hot forming of sheets and pipes using various processes; bonding of sheets and pipe connections; installation exercises; hot forming, welding and bonding of acrylic glass; sintering process; production of an examination piece based on a model or drawing.

In addition to in-company training, the participant acquires the knowledge and skills to process semi-finished products made of transparent plastics, such as acrylic glass and polycarbonate, in a manner appropriate to the material.

Technology

Fundamentals of plastics technology, structure and properties of acrylic glass, polycarbonate. Hot forming processes such as bending, blowing, suction, gluing, welding, cleaning and care.

Practical expertise

Machining such as sawing, drilling, grinding, polishing, non-cutting shaping by hot forming, joining (gluing, welding), production of a component according to a template.

In the first part of the course, the participant acquires the basic knowledge and skills to process the commercially available types of unsaturated polyester resins (UP resins) and epoxy resins with reinforcing materials by hand and to assess the material-specific application possibilities. The second part deals with the production of fiber-reinforced components and repair methods for components made of fiber-reinforced plastics.

Hand laminating with various hardener-accelerator systems, cold pressing processes, mixing in fillers, colors, reinforcing materials; repair and bonding technology, casting technology, coating of thermoplastics, sandwich construction.
