IKV presents current research, study and career opportunities in mechanical engineering
On Saturday, 24 May 2025, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University opened its doors for the Mechanical Engineering Day. The event on the Melaten campus offered visitors a comprehensive insight into the diversity and innovative strength of modern mechanical engineering.
The event opened in the morning at the IKV. Afterwards, 30 institutes and facilities spread across the Melaten campus presented current research projects and technical developments. Particular attention was paid to the practical presentation of the fields of study and work in mechanical engineering. For example, interested visitors were able to experience 3D printing live at IKV, take part in an RC car race or produce their own Frisbees using the injection moulding process.
In addition to interactive demonstrations, specialist presentations were also offered, which were very popular. The focus was on machine learning and the future of technology in Germany. Pupils, students and parents were able to find out about study opportunities, research fields and career paths in mechanical engineering in personal discussions.
The event was made possible by the dedicated cooperation of numerous colleagues and the participating institutes. Their efforts contributed significantly to the success of the day.
