Research in dialogue: Review of the advisory group meetings 2025

From 3 to 5 November 2025, the IKV’s advisory board group meetings (FBG) took place at the SuperC of RWTH Aachen University. Around 100 representatives from industry and science took part in the meetings of the individual specialist groups over the three days.

Regularly at the end of the year, the advisory board meetings offer the members of the IKV Association a central platform to discuss current research topics and shape new projects together with IKV scientists. A particular added value lies in the personal exchange: The participants get to know the responsible researchers and thus find direct contacts for the topics that concern them in their company.

This year, a poster session was integrated into the program for the first time – a format that was very well received by the participants. Young scientists presented their research work here, which ranged from the development of adaptive models for predicting quality to strategies for reducing odor in recycled materials and innovative recycling approaches for fiber-reinforced plastics.

The lecture programs of the specialist groups reflected the diversity of research at IKV:

  • The FBG Injection Moulding focused on topics such as the use of recyclates from medical waste, adaptive process models and the optimisation of the heat balance of moulds.
  • FBG Extrusion addressed issues relating to the circular economy – such as decontamination and odor reduction in recyclates or improving the carbon footprint of recycling processes.
  • The FBG Rubber Technology discussed new methods for material modeling and process control as well as the rheological evaluation of highly reinforced rubber compounds.
  • FBG Composite focused on new perspectives for the circular economy of fiber-reinforced plastics and innovative recycling concepts.
  • The FBG Structural Calculation and Materials Technology and the FBG PUR Technology presented data-driven material models, strategies for process optimization and approaches for recycling polyurethanes.

In addition to the intensive technical discussions, the joint evening events provided an opportunity for networking and personal exchanges between industry and research.

IKV would like to thank all participants and especially the external moderators for their commitment and the successful course of this year’s advisory board meetings.

All members of the FBG can now download all conference documents and posters from the online member area and find out about the topics of FBG 2025 afterwards.
