Commitment to continuous improvement in occupational health and safety
The Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen University has once again been recognised for its systematic occupational health and safety management. For the third time in a row, IKV received the ‘Sicher mit System’ (SmS) seal of approval from the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the raw materials and chemical industry (BG RCI) on 7 May 20025.
The award is the result of a voluntary and independent assessment and confirms that effective, structured and legally compliant occupational health and safety management is practiced at IKV. Aspects of responsible management and work behavior were evaluated. This includes implementing the requirements of the National Guideline for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (NLF) and the international standard ISO 45001 “Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems”.

The seal not only documents compliance with legal regulations, but also stands for:
- the importance of health and safety in ICV’s day-to-day operations,
- commitment to continuous improvement in occupational health and safety,
- Transparency and trust towards employees, partners and authorities.
“The renewed award is an important confirmation of our daily actions and at the same time an incentive to continue to consistently anchor occupational health and safety in our structures,” says Dipl.-Ing. Martin Seeliger, plant engineer at IKV. He accepted the certificate from the BG RCI together with the IKV employees who are involved in the internal working group for occupational health and safety.
With the seal of approval, IKV documents its commitment to structured and sustainable occupational health and safety for its sponsors and partners as well as for its employees and students.
