Topic of the work:

This thesis focuses on the validation of previous simulations of a mould, followed by its manufacture and commissioning for coextrusion on continuous fiber-reinforced tapes. A layer of long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic is applied to two joined tapes (green and yellow) via coextrusion. This allows for a range of stiffness levels for use in lightweight products. Uniform, flat extrusion and a defined layer thickness are the key criteria for successful process control.

The work is related to this research project:

The research project is a sub-project of the DediGrad Collaborative Research Center and deals with the production of graded, fiber-reinforced semi-finished products. Various tapes, profiles and press compounds are produced with different fiber volume contents and partly recycled plastics in order to be subsequently integrated into components in other sub-projects of the Collaborative Research Centre.

Objective:

The goal of this project is to integrate a coextrusion die into the IKV’s existing tape production line and to determine suitable process parameters. These are evaluated based on the mechanical properties, dimensional accuracy, fiber length distribution, and fiber orientation of the coextruded profiles.
