Project work or research laboratory
Topic of the work
The cushioning properties of foamed plastic films are crucial to their suitability as packaging materials. It is important that they are neither too stiff nor too flexible, in order to ensure optimal protection for the packaged goods. An existing starch-based foam film will be tested for these characteristics to determine whether it is suitable for use as packaging material. To this end, an analysis of the mechanical properties of the starch foam film will be conducted, along with a comparison with the characteristics of foam films already available on the market. The analyses to be performed include testing the impact resistance and compressive strength to determine the damping properties under sudden loads, as well as subsequent microscopic examination to characterize any damage to the film.
