Bachelor thesis or master thesis
© IKVTopic of the work:
Modern plastics processing is facing the challenge of an increasing shortage of skilled workers and the associated loss of implicit process knowledge. Since the resulting process behavior and the final component quality are determined by a complex interplay of material properties, tool geometry and machine dynamics, a direct transfer of setting parameters within heterogeneous machine parks is not easily possible. The conventional, often iterative determination of adequate machine parameters is based heavily on the empirical knowledge of the machine operator, which can lead to longer set-up times and quality fluctuations. In order to compensate for these machine- and person-specific influences on process quality, process transfer requires the development of intelligent, model-based transfer strategies.
The work is related to this research project:
The studies on the influence of machines on process transfer in injection molding are being carried out as part of the Internet of Production Cluster of Excellence. The project focuses primarily on the transfer of different processes (e.g. machine, material, mold) and the development of intelligent models for process transfer. The influences investigated and models developed within the project make it possible to shorten process set-up times and secure knowledge in the models developed.
Objective:
The aim of your work is the systematic investigation of the influence of different injection molding machines on the process properties, such as cavity pressure and injection pressure. To this end, machine settings are varied and the test plan is carried out on different injection molding machines.
