Research Lab Work or Project Work
© IKVTopic of the Work:
The distortion of injection molded parts is largely determined by the cooling process. Inhomogeneous cooling can lead to increased distortion. In order to improve the temperature homogeneity of the plastic during cooling, ceramic heating layers were developed in the special research area “Precision from the Melt”, which enable highly dynamic and precise control of the mold surface temperature during the injection molding process. The aim of the work is to test this innovative technology in realistic injection molded parts. This includes both the execution and evaluation of injection molding tests.
The work is related to following Research Project:
The work is part of the Collaborative Research Center SFB 1120, which deals with the improvement of component precision in various production processes. As this is interdisciplinary research, it may be possible to gain experience beyond plastics processing during the work.
