Research into release-agent-free demoulding

Topic of the work:

The use of release agent-free demoulding in the production of foamed and fiber-reinforced PUR and EP lightweight components offers considerable potential for reducing CO₂ and increasing efficiency. First, global component classes, application scenarios and market and production figures are identified in order to assess the overall potential of release agent-free processes. This research laboratory concentrates exclusively on the research and structuring part and thus lays the data basis for subsequent PCA analyses.

Objective:

The aim of the research laboratory is to compile a structured overview of relevant component classes and international market and production figures for foamed and fiber-reinforced PUR and EP lightweight components. Based on this, promising application scenarios and component classes are to be identified in which the introduction of release agent-free demolding promises particularly high CO₂ savings and efficiency potential.

Your task:

  • Familiarization with the manufacturing processes for foamed and fiber-reinforced PUR and EP lightweight components considered in the project
  • Systematic research of international market and production figures for relevant lightweight components (e.g. automotive, commercial vehicle, energy, industrial applications)
  • Structuring of the identified components into component classes and application scenarios as well as description of the underlying manufacturing processes with a focus on release agent-based demolding
  • Derivation of initial statements on the overall potential of CO₂ reduction and efficiency increase through release agent-free demolding and preparation of the data for later transfer to process chain models

Your profile:

  • Basic knowledge of process analysis
  • Interest in sustainability-oriented studies with regard to CO₂ reduction and increased efficiency
  • Independent and structured way of working

Preferred study programs:

  • Mechanical engineering / industrial engineering, specialising in mechanical engineering
  • Automation technology
  • General mechanical engineering
  • Computational Engineering Science (CES)
  • Industrial engineering, specialising in materials and process engineering
  • Environmental engineering
