Topic of the Thesis:

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important in industrial process and product development. Modern AI methods such as generative design, optimization algorithms and machine learning are opening up new opportunities to make design processes more efficient and develop innovative solutions, particularly in the field of construction. At the same time, the question arises as to which of these methods are actually suitable for practical use and what added value they offer compared to established approaches.

Polyurethane (PU) is a versatile material whose processing places specific demands on tool design. The development of a suitable mold thus provides a practical basis for systematically investigating the use of various AI methods. The aim of this thesis is therefore to design a mold for the production of PU components, using and evaluating different AI-supported processes.

Objective:

As part of this thesis, a mold for the production of polyurethane components is to be designed and constructed in CAD using AI-supported methods. Modern AI methods are to be examined for their applicability and performance in order to derive a recommendation for the use of AI methods in construction

Your Tasks:

Familiarization with the processing of polyurethane and the basics of tool design Systematic analysis and comparison of several modern AI methods in the context of tool design
Implementation of a CAD design of a mold using at least one selected AI method Development and implementation of a CAD design of a PU mold using various AI methods
Evaluation of the applicability of the applied AI method in comparison to classic design approaches Validation and quantitative evaluation of the performance of the AI methods
Derivation of a well-founded recommendation for the practical use of AI methods in construction
