Innovative electrolyzer components made of plastic: design & manufacturing concepts for scalable water electrolysis

Think big when it comes to electrolysers: develop component and manufacturing ideas that reduce costs, ensure quality and finally make scaling up possible.

Topic of the work:

The scaling of water electrolysers requires new, robust and cost-efficient component and production concepts. In this job, you will develop and evaluate innovative ideas for electrolyzer components with a focus on scalability, functionality and system integration. The work is based around the H2 activities of the Institute of Plastics Processing: We promote the exchange between the hydrogen and plastics industries, pool expertise and accelerate the industrialization of hydrogen technologies.

The work is related to this research project:

At our H2 Business & Technology Forum, we discuss innovative ideas for the use of plastics in the hydrogen industry. You will work directly with the core team.

Scope of your Thesis:

  • Development of innovative concepts for selected electrolyzer components
    (Design + manufacturing process)
  • Evaluation of the concepts in terms of scalability, cost/time potential, manufacturability and system function
  • Derivation of a feasible prototyping path (incl. requirements and validation logic)
