HiWi in the Fibre Reinforced Plastics Department

Investigate the processing and characterisation of reactive plastics during curing to form fibre composite components

Due to their excellent weight-specific properties, fibre-reinforced plastics (FRP) are used wherever good component performance and weight savings are required, e.g. in the automotive industry or in aircraft construction. The characteristic features of polymer materials are ideally tailored to the application with fibre reinforcement. In addition to the type of fibre, the length and shape of the fibres and the right matrix material are decisive criteria for the property profile of the final component.

Your tasks

As part of your work, you will deal with the processing and characterization of reactive plastics during the curing process to produce fibre composite components. The issues range from material selection and material characterization to design tasks. In addition to completing practical tasks, you will also deal with the corresponding evaluation and preparation of the results. In this working group, you can also deal with the simulation and modeling of filling and curing processes. Working at IKV gives you the opportunity to gain a lot of practical experience that is otherwise not taught in lectures.

We expect you to

  • Openness to familiarizing yourself with a new topic
  • Independent, reliable and conscientious way of working
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Willingness for long-term employment
  • Ideally, initial experience in the field of plastics processing/FRP

We offer you

  • An open and friendly working atmosphere and flexible working hours
  • Knowledge application and expansion
  • Varied tasks
  • An open-minded, dynamic and experienced team
