The Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) in Industry and the Skilled Crafts at RWTH Aachen University is one of the largest research institutes in the field of plastics technology. More than 300 employees work here and answer the many questions that arise in the processing of plastics. The focus is on innovation, research and training.
One of the main areas of research is injection molding. Both public and bilateral projects are carried out as part of research and training. Among other things, injection molding tests in our own technical center are necessary for processing the projects. The technical center comprises twelve injection moulding machines with corresponding peripherals and automation. The injection moulding machines differ in terms of size, manufacturer and additional peripherals, so that different subject areas are examined. As a test technician, you will be responsible for organizing the technical center, carrying out injection molding tests and maintaining the machines.
What you bring with you:
- Successfully completed technical vocational training (e.g. process mechanic) with subsequent further training as an industrial foreman or technician or a comparable qualification
- Good technical understanding
- Interest in research and convincing commitment with high motivation in a young environment
- Independent way of working
- Confident handling of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Friendly and professional demeanor, very good communication skills
- Good written and spoken English skills
Your tasks include:
- Setting up, retooling and operating injection molding machines and corresponding peripheral devices and handling equipment
- Accompanying and documenting injection moulding tests
- Assembly and disassembly of injection moulds
- Maintenance of injection moulding machines and tool technology
- Organisation of the technical center
- Definition, implementation and compliance with the 5S standard
- Support and coordination of shipping and delivery of machines and materials
- Supervision of student and research assistants
