Job offer

Technical or scientific employee for the field of analysis of plastics

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a technical or scientific employee to work on the mechanical testing of plastics, starting as soon as possible.

About the IKV

IKV is one of the leading research and development institutes in the field of plastics technology. We have broad expertise in the areas of design, processing, simulation, testing and analysis of plastics. The institute also has the necessary molds, machines and analysis and testing methods. The latter are operated in the Center for Plastics Analysis and Testing (KAP), a certified area. These include testing machines, microscopes, spectroscopes, thermal and rheological analysers. The methods are used both in research projects and in cooperation with partners from industry, so that a broad spectrum is covered, from basic research to concrete applications.

Your task:

Her area of responsibility has two main focuses. On the one hand, it includes the acquisition, design and support of projects with industrial partners. Another task is the operation and support of mechanical testing machines.
After familiarising yourself with plastics-specific analysis methods, you will be responsible for looking after mechanical testing equipment. With the support of colleagues, you will develop the ability to operate a selection of devices safely. They acquire the competence to design the tests with reference to material-related issues and to interpret the results. They train students in the use of testing equipment. Discussing the results with experts from the institute or from companies will be an essential part of your work.

Your qualification:

You have successfully completed a technical degree at a college or university or a technical apprenticeship. You enjoy dealing with analytical and technical testing issues. Ideally, you already have experience with the characterization of plastics and a basic understanding of the description of plastic material states. You like to find solutions to problems independently or in discussion with colleagues.
Ideally, you already have experience of working with sensitive testing equipment for plastics and have good manual skills.

Our offer:

We offer you an exciting, varied and versatile position in an open-minded, highly motivated team of technicians and scientists in which you will work independently. The exchange with other specialists in analysis, material and processing technologies is an important element of your field of work. You will be able to take on the challenge of structuring complex problems, for example from damage analysis, discussing them with colleagues, jointly developing suitable procedures to clarify the problem and presenting the solutions to our customers. Your tasks will enable you to have intensive contact with partners from both industry and science.
