Job offer

HiWi for the extrusion tools / CAE working group

Experimental investigations, analyses of simulations & construction of tools

Your activities may include carrying out experimental investigations on pilot plants, performing and analysing flow simulations in OpenFOAM, and designing tools and geometries for simulation purposes.

About our research area

Extrusion is the most important process for the continuous mass production of semi-finished products and products made of plastic. Large quantities of plastic waste are often generated during production, which could be avoided by improving tool components and gaining a better understanding of the interaction between different process parameters.

Extrusion tools:
In the “Extrusion tools/CAE” working group, we therefore deal with the computer-aided design and optimization of tool components for extrusion lines. Numerical flow simulations, data analyses and additive manufacturing processes enable us to increase efficiency by geometrically optimizing components, improving temperature control and predicting optimum process parameters.
