Working Group: Extrusion Dies and CAE
About the working group:
The Extrusion Dies and CAE Working Group focuses on the simulation of thermoplastic melts. These simulations are used to design extrusion dies or screw elements. We are currently working on optimizing a dynamic mixing element in a single-screw extruder.
Work Packages:
As a student assistant, you will support us in our ongoing research projects. Your responsibilities will include, among other things, planning and conducting experiments, preparing samples, analyzing experimental and process data, and conducting literature reviews. You will also assist us in setting up and running CFD simulations in OpenFOAM.
Your profile:
- A degree in mechanical engineering, CES, computer science, plastics engineering, or a comparable field of study
- Independent, conscientious and team-oriented way of working
- Enjoyment of both hands-on and simulation-based work
- Willingness to familiarise yourself with different areas of work
- Interest in a long-term HiWi position
- Experience with CFD simulations and programming is helpful but not required
